Tadema Terrace & Rococo Room

Floor Plan

Tadema Terrace

The Tadema Terrace is a perfect compliment to the Manor Garden Hall, an ideal space for registration, refreshments and receptions.

The Design Concept for the Tadema Terrace

This room was inspired by the work of Sir Lawrence Alma Tadema (1836 - 1912) who was one of the finest and most distinctive Victorian Painters. Alma Tadema because famous for his depictions of the luxury and decadence of the Roman Empire, with languorous figures set in fabulous marbled interiors or against a backdrop of dazzling blue Mediterranean sea and sky. His paintings are admired for their mastery of light, colour and texture.

Rococo Room

Adjoining the Tadema Terrace the Rococo Room is a luxurious addition to the Manor Garden Wing.  The two rooms work together as a refreshment space during the day or as an intimate reception space in the evening.

The Design Concept for the Rococo Room

This room exemplifies the classic features of the Rococo style, which during its period of popularity (1730 - 1770) was an important influence on interior design. It is characterised by lightness, grace, elegence and asymmetry. The major elements were C &S scrolls, naturalistic motifs and a type of ornament known as 'rociaille' which reflects the asymmetrical edge of rocks and shells. Rococo signalled a move towards a lighter more delicate style.
